    Meet Our Speakers


    Dr. Michael Khoury is a registered specialist endodontist. He completed his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics at UWA. He joined WA Endodontics in January 2020. He focuses on long term predictable treatment with his patients as it is the key to successful prevention of dental disease and improving oral health. He also has special interests in dental trauma, tooth resorption and tooth discolouration management.

    Dr. Khoury is passionate about delivering quality and evidence based dental treatment to all his patients. He gathered his extensive experience by working at different places overseas and in Australia including the Army, the United Nations, UWA and private practice. He worked and taught at The University of Western Australia – School of Dentistry – in all aspects of clinical and preclinical dentistry for the last twelve years.

    He is a member of the Australian Dental Association, International Association of Dental Traumatology and has a membership in Endodontics with the Royal Australian College of Dental surgeons. He is the past president of the Australian Society of Endodontics WA branch. He was awarded the United Nations Service Medal and the Jordanian Peace-Keeping Medal for his distinguished service.

    Di is a seasoned orthodontic practice consultant with over a decade of experience in helping orthodontic practice thrive. She has walked in the shoes of being an Orthodontic Practice Manager and a Treatment Coordinator and knows the demands of a busy schedule. Di has helped over 100 orthodontic practices across Australia, New Zealand, the U.K and the U.S.

    Di holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Marketing and a Bachelor of Commerce in International Business, giving her a strong foundation in theory and practice. She has taught business communication and team culture at The Australian National University, and has a deep understanding of team behaviour and communication. Di’s absolute favourite moments are when she helps team members surpass goals they never thought possible!

    With her nurturing approach and extensive knowledge and expertise, Di and her team are dedicated to helping orthodontic practices achieve their full potential and succeed in today’s challenging industry.




    Dr Mahnaz Syed graduated from Guys Dental School in 1992 and work for five years in general practice gaining a diploma in general practice and covering all aspects of restorative dentistry. During this time she completed a two year clinical attachment in oral surgery and dental extractions at the Royal Free Hospital London.

    In 2001 she completed her three year specialist training programme in periodontics from the Royal London Dental Hospital gaining her specialty with distinction. During her training she was awarded the Frank Ashley scholarship for advanced study in periodontics, in addition she completed her fellowship and membership to the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

    Dr Syed then worked as lead clinician in a multidisciplinary treatment study into prognostic factors and treatment outcomes affecting patients with aggressive periodontitis. She worked in specialist practice at two unique specialist centres in London. In addition she taught on the postgraduate programme in periodontics at the Royal London Hospital, as clinical lead in mucogingival surgery. She taught soft tissue augmentation for implant complications and around teeth.

    Dr Syed moved to Perth Western Australia in 2007 and worked in specialist practice as well as a clinical tutor on the postgraduate programme where she represents the Royal college of Surgeons as an external examiner for the Mater in Periodontics programme.  Since 2010 she has a successful specialist periodontal practice in Subiaco and focuses her treatment on minimally traumatic extractions, soft and hard tissue augmentation. She currently lectures in Periodontics at Curtin university for the final year therapy students as well as providing CPD courses for the ADA around Australia.

    Dr Anthony Hopkins

    Dr Hopkins completed his Dentistry degree at The University of Manchester in 2006. After graduating, he worked in General Dental Practice and then posts in Paediatric Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2009, he was offered a position at the University of Manchester for orthodontic specialist training. He qualified with a Masters in Orthodontics in 2012, and completed the Royal College of Surgeons England orthodontic examination thereafter.

    He worked in England as an orthodontic specialist for two years and in January 2015 emigrated to Australia with his wife Nayha and son Ethan. Their daughter Julia was born later that year.

    He has been working in a private orthodontic practice in Perth city and also south of the river.

    Outside of work Dr Hopkins enjoys spending time with his young family, going to the gym and travelling.


    Dr Trudy Stewart


    Dr Stewart grew up in country Queensland and initially studied a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. She returned to university and completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery through the University of Adelaide in 2004. Dr Stewart was recognised on the Dean’s List on completion of her undergraduate studies and received the prestigious Moore Medal for overall academic excellence and outstanding contribution as an undergraduate student.

    Following graduation, Dr Stewart worked as a Dental Registrar at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children for 2 years. She then restricted her practice to paediatrics and worked for Auckland District Health Service at Starship Children’s Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Middlemore Hospital for a further 3 years. Dr Stewart returned to the University of Adelaide to undertake her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics. She graduated in 2013 with a Dean’s commendation for excellence for her research on dental ankylosis. Dr Stewart worked as an Associate Orthodontist until purchasing Dianella Noranda Orthodontics in 2020.
