Once your teeth are straight, we want to keep them that way. But as you age and whether you’ve had orthodontic treatment or not, your teeth may want to move. This tooth movement can be caused by several factors including:

  • a reduction in bone density
  • changes in gum tissue
  • changes in oral health

So keeping a retainer on hand will help protect your investment in a beautiful smile, no matter your age.

Your New Smile Is Forever

YOUR RETAINER WEAR MAY NOT HAVE TO HAPPEN AS OFTEN AS YOU THINK

As soon as your braces or Invisalign treatment is finished, we’ll give you a set of custom made retainers to wear full time. Gradually you will reduce your wear to night times until they are no longer needed regularly. As you age, we recommend keeping a pair of retainers on hand so you can pop them in once or twice a week to make sure your teeth are still in their ideal position.

If you find your teeth have shifted slightly, then popping your retainers in for a few nights will often move your teeth back into their optimal place. For patients who have stubborn teeth (as we like to call them), we will place a permanent thin wire on the back of the teeth as an extra guarantee to keep your new smile in place.

Do I Need to Pay an Ongoing Fee for Retainers?

THERE ARE NO UPSELLS AT NORANDA ORTHODONTICS

At Noranda Orthodontics everyone gets a set of retainers included in their treatment fee. For most people these retainers will last up to 5 years.

If you do break or lose a retainer we can replace it for a small fee, but there’s no need to sign up to an ongoing retainer subscription plan with us. We believe you should only pay for what you actually need, if you need it.
